Event Photography

We've had a very busy month this month, with abseils, driving challenges, tank driving, prom portraits, weddings and other various charity events. Here are a few pictures from events we've attended in the last few weeks.

A Busy Weekend

Updating my blog is the last thing I'm going to do today before settling down on the sofa to watch yesterdays Grand Prix.
Our weekend started on Friday evening with a Black Tie Ball in Central London. I'd a great evening, meeting some lovely people and listening to a great live band. By the time we got home and got to bed it was 4am, then up again at 7am to go to Tanks A Lot in Northamptonshire. What a contrast to the posh do the night before, trudging around in a field of knee high deep mud all day....love it.
It was another early start for me yesterday, I left the house soon after 6am, to cover round 1 of the Easykart championship in Ellough Park in Suffolk, eventually getting home again at 10pm. Meanwhile Mandie & Andy went to the JR hospital in Oxford to cover an abseil there.

Town & Gown Fun Run in Oxford

I got very wet today. I was shooting the annual Town & Gown running race in Oxford and the heavens opened. After getting pictures at the start I went to a park area that they would be running through. I was hoping to get some shelter from the rain but then I had the predicament of it being to dark under the trees and too wet in the open. Using flash wasn't an option as I had so many pictures to take in such a short space of time, the flash just wouldn't be able to recharge quickly enough. In the end I just found a spot to shoot them before they came under the trees, it wasn't ideal, but could have been a lot worse.
We also had an abseil in Oxford that day which Ila was covering so she got very wet as well. All in all, there was a lot of soggy people today. Isn't the British weather just brilliant!

Thornborough 10k & Fun Run

It's that time of year again. The Thornborough 10k & Fun Run is held every May bank holiday Monday around the little village of Thornborough, which is between Milton Keynes and Buckingham. There's always a great community spirit and holiday atmosphere about this event. Although I never make a lot of money from it, I still always enjoy going to this event.

Cross Country Eventing at Turpins Lodge

I spent a couple of hours today taking photos of riders from Turpins Lodge having cross country lessons. I don't do much equine photography so it's nice to have a go at something different, and as Turpins lodge is only a mile from my house it's very handy.

Abseiling in Avon Gorge

Avon Gorge in Bristol is one of my favourite places to photograph abseiling. When the sun is out it's a wonderful place to spend the day, sitting on the edge of a cliff with an amazing view, meeting lots of new people and taking photos all day.
This is a two day abseil, talented freelance photographer Misha Ostromecki is covering it for me tomorrow when I cover another abseil in Oxford.
